Welcome

Welcome to my blog.  We are a God-lovin', tree-huggin' family living in the heart of Lancaster County, PA.  Here you will see my efforts to guide my children to the simple joys of life in our daily rhythm with a few adventures thrown in for fun.

The title of my blog comes from a lovely poem by Emily Dickinson that describes the waking and passing of a new day:

I'll tell you how the sun rose,--
A ribbon at a time.
The steeples swam in amethyst,
The news like squirrels ran.
The hills untied their bonnets,
The bobolinks begun.
Then I said softly to myself,
"That must have been the sun!"

But how he set, I know not.
There seemed a purple stile
Which little yellow boys and girls
Were climbing all the while
Till when they reached the other side,
A dominie in gray
Put gently up the evening bars,
And led the flock away.

May each new day bring you such simple beauty.

  1. Of course I love the picture as that is a very special child and special day. Thank you for using your simple, God given talent.
